OUR HISTORY
We are proud to say that Sunburst Grill was the first Filipino restaurant to be opened in the Aurora area, more than eleven years have been put into making authentic Filipino food to satisfy not only the Filipino community, but everyone else who enjoys it. The initial owner typically known by his nickname "Poppy" decided to open a restaurant that would allow him to share the food of his culture to others around him. After running the restaurant for multiple years, he decided it was time for him to retire and pass on his restaurant, it's recipes, and history to a trusted friend of his.
Since July of 2019, Marco A. Ruiz has been the new owner and executive chef of Sunburst Grill, and together with his new team, he has managed to create a new and renovated restaurant. Marco has always had a passion for food, this passion was evoked by his exposure to the food industry. After working as a cook for multiple chain restaurants, he was promoted and settled at a very well known China Bistro where he ran the kitchen as the executive chef for multiple years. However, he was still dreaming of owning his own restaurant and didn't want to give up on his dream. After hearing Poppy's offering of Sunburst Grill, he felt honored and didn't think twice but to accept the offer.
